Cupcakes in the bathroom? Why not!
This week’s giveaway sponsor is I’m With Cupcake and I am in love with their shop. It is devoted to party items and all things cupcake. They describe their shop as, “A place where the word cupcake is redefined to mean more than a small cake. I’m With Cupcake is filled with sweet items that make great gifts for a loved one, or yourself. Here are a few of my favs:

There are tons of things you can do with piped icing, and you can especially let your creativity run wild around Halloween! Here are some ideas I found today while browsing Halloween cupcakes. These would be super simple to make, and I think they would be especially appropriate for a boys’ Halloween party or sleepover.

What’s not to love about these cupcakes in a jar? Here’s what I love about them:
1. Easy to transport to a Halloween party, whether it’s at school, work or someone’s home.
2. Much less mess, not only during transport, but also when eating (I don’t know about you, but I really don’t like it when I get icing all over my face after taking a bite of cupcake).
3. It’s unique. We’re all accustomed to seeing cupcakes in cupcake liners, but not everyone has seen them in glass jars.
4. These would be fun party favors. See cute idea with ribbon below.

Over the past few years we here at ATC have shared several candy corn cupcake ideas. We started with the idea of dying the cupcake batter yellow and orange and layering them to look like a candy corn. The next year we showed you that you could take any cupcake and frost it to look like a candy corn by piping white, yellow, and orange frosting on top. This year we take it one step further, dark chocolate cupcakes with a candy corn inside! The Sugar Turntable came up with the fun and festive idea, as she says in her description, the dark chocolate cupcake combined with the candy corn colors just screams fall and Halloween!

The directions for how to make these awesome cupcakes are included in her original post but while at the website check out her other Halloween tutorials. The tutorials include instructions for the fun boneyard cupcakes shown to the right, would you believe marshmallows and pretzels are used to make them?

Make a batch of cupcakes and icing, round up some pretzel sticks, POLO sweets, mini M&Ms, and some orange jellies, and make yourself a jack-o-lantern cupcake. I have to say that this looks much easier (not to mention way more yummy) than carving a pumpkin.

Here in Chicago the leaves are beginning to turn magnificent hues of red, orange and yellow. I took several walks today just to get out and enjoy the pleasant weather and the spectacular colors of fall. As I strolled through our neighborhood I wondered what kinds of fall leaf cupcakes were out there, and I found this kit when I googled it. The kit comes with 24 cupcake liners, 12 cupcake toppers in 4 different designs, and 12 case wrappers. I love the colors, and these wrappers and toppers would really dress up your cupcakes.

Owls seem to be all the rave these days. I see them everywhere, from baby clothes to jewelry to school supplies. Cupcakes are no exception; there are plenty of owl designs out there. I love the creative candy selection used to make these (Mike & Ikes, jelly beans, gummy rings, and frosting).

Be sure and take a look at some previous owl cupcakes posted on ATC (Halloween Hoot Owls and owls made from oreos, Reese’s Pieces, and candy corn). Owl cupcakes seem to be a great way to use up some extra Halloween candy…or a great excuse to go buy some of your favorite candy! You can definitely be creative with these and come up with your own unique combinations.

When I think of fall, apples come to mind pretty quickly. There are trips to the apple orchard, hot apple cider on a crisp, cool evening, warm apple pies, apple-scented candles, and of course, caramel apples. These caramel apple cupcakes from Taste of Home would be a yummy and festive way to welcome the fall season.

Over the years Halloween has become one of my favorite holidays. I love the cooler weather, the colors and decorations, and most importantly the desserts. If I was going to a Halloween party this year I would without a doubt be making these buried skeleton cupcakes! I can just see little boys loving and little girls being grossed out by these cupcakes with decapitated skeletal parts! These cupcakes are actually pretty easy to make once you find the little skeletons. Add crushed chocolate wafers to your chocolate frosted cupcakes and you have the dirt. For detailed directions visit Holidash!

How you present your cupcakes can be (almost, but not quite) as important as the cupcakes themselves. If you’re in the mood for a fun Halloween craft project, you might take a look at this simple, yet attractive cupcake stand. Step-by-step instructions and a list of supplies can be found here. It’s no doubt that the most challenging part of this project would be keeping yourself from gobbling up the candy corn before it’s all glued on!

As you all know, cupcakes are really all the rage right now (we hope they will be forever! ). And they are not showing any signs of slowing down in popularity. They are so popular that there has even been a board game for kids centered around cupcakes.

Halloween costumes are tons of fun, but we all know that the candy is pretty important, too. Of course, every kid needs a special treat bag where they can stash away their goodies. This cupcake treat bag from Pottery Barn Kids would be excellent for holding all those tootsie rolls and gobbstoppers and snickers bars. Be sure and check out Pottery Barn’s accompanying cupcake costume as well. Happy trick or treating!
