Let Them Eat (Cup)Cake

Posted by on Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Last week Oh Joy! Eats posted this great combination of cupcake related items. My favorite item out of the six is definitely the cupcake measuring cups available from Urban Outfitters.  The 1 cup, 1/2 cup, and 1/3 cup measurements are the bases that look like wrappers.  Then my favorite part is that the icing doubles as the 1/4 cup measurement!  They are only $18.00 which would make them a great, under $20.00 holiday gift.

NPR Cupcake Recipes

Posted by on Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

NPR frequently discusses cupcakes, for instance they warned us that macaroons were going to replace the cupcake as the top dessert and explained that cupcakes are so popular because we are in a cupcake bubble. Now NPR shares with how to have your (less sinful) cupcake and enjoy it, too.  This article, unlike the previous two starts off on a positive not saying that the cupcake craze is not going away (yay!).  The downfall to the cupcake trend is that as a society we are realizing we need to be more health-conscious.  So Eve Turow has created several healthy cupcake recipes which allow us to still treat ourselves but watch the calories.  Since I have a few bananas on the verge of going bad, I think I might try the Banana Cupcake with Chocolate Frosting but be sure to read the full article for all the cupcake recipes.
