Buried Skeleton Cupcakes

Posted by on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Over the years Halloween has become one of my favorite holidays.  I love the cooler weather, the colors and decorations, and most importantly the desserts.  If I was going to a Halloween party this year I would without a doubt be making these buried skeleton cupcakes!  I can just see little boys loving and little girls being grossed out by these cupcakes with decapitated skeletal parts!  These cupcakes are actually pretty easy to make once you find the little skeletons.  Add crushed chocolate wafers to your chocolate frosted cupcakes and you have the dirt.  For detailed directions visit Holidash!

Halloween Cupcake Card

Posted by on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Do you send Halloween cards to loved ones who live  far away?  Or since this year Halloween is on a Monday will you be putting a card is a little ones lunch box?  I think this Halloween cupcake greeting card is really fun and it’s available for $3.50 from Rock Scissors Paper.  The outside asks “Trick or Treat?” and the inside says “Definitely a treat! Happy Halloween.”  I would pick a treat, especially a cupcake, over a trick any day!

Marshall’s Baby Cupcake Costume

Posted by on Saturday, October 1st, 2011

I found this baby cupcake costume at my local Marshalls.  It’s really cute and would look great on a little baby, not to mention it’s only $12.99.  While there is not guarantee that your Marshalls will have the costume, my store has several so hopefully yours will too!

Cupcake Liner Witch Hats

Posted by on Friday, September 30th, 2011

I agree with Carrie from Half Baked, I’m not a fan of rushing the holiday season but since Halloween products have been out since August I am ready for fall and Halloween!  I love these cupcake liner witch hats that Carrie came up with.  I usually choose decorations that are simple, easy, timesaving and impressive.  These witch hats are just that, there is no labor intensive decorating involved.  The complete instructions are on Half Baked and by complete I mean 5 steps!

Lady Gaga Inspired Cupcakes

Posted by on Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Are you a Lady Gaga fan?  I feel as though she’s like a scary movie that you can’t help but watch even though you know you will be scared but in the case of Lady Gaga you know she’s going to have something crazy on!

I’m impressed by these Lady Gaga inspired cupcakes sent in by an ATC reader!  Each cupcake is designed after a Lady Gaga outfit and I think the cupcakes match wonderfully with Lady Gaga’s unique style.  My personal favorite is the Kermit the Frog Lady Gaga cupcake.  To view each cupcake with it’s correlating outfit head over to C for Cupcake Cupcakery’s post!

Cupcake Customizable Converses

Posted by on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

If I didn’t already have my custom cupcake Toms I would definitely buy a pair of these Converse shoes!  With the Converse One Builder you can create custom shoes! The best part is they have two cupcake patterns to chose from.  I made a sample pair, shown above, to see what the process is like.  You start by choosing from one of over 39 styles, note that each style is a different price.   Next you start picking colors and patterns for the different 14 parts of the shoe.  For my shoes I chose the Skidgrip CVO Canvas and the brown cupcake print, once completed this pair of shoes would cost $62.00.  There is also a grey  cupcake print and you can even add a tag to you shoes!

Caramel Apple Pie Cupcakes

Posted by on Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Happy first day of Fall!  This year I’m really looking forward to the cool weather, warm colors, and seasonal foods.  Last week I picked up some apples at a local farmers market and I’m already craving more.  I know I’ll have to buy more because I really want to bake these caramel apple pie cupcakes that I saw yesterday.  As an apple and a cupcake lover each component sounds delicious, from the cinnamon cupcake and apple pie filling, to the caramel frosting.  The Craving Chronicles came up with these festive cupcakes and the recipe can be found on the original post.

Posted by on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Is it to early or have you started thinking about what you and your little ones are going to be for Halloween? Kohl’s already has Halloween items in their stores and online.  I noticed this cupcake costume for little girls that costs $40.49.  Only two sizes are left, 3-4 and 5-6 so if you’re thinking about ordering this, don’t wait!

Evajuliet Cupcake Pins

Posted by on Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

I have been admiring Evajuliet’s Etsy shop for some time now.  The Les Petites Douceurs print has been on the top of my favorite items list.  Recenlty I have added the La vie est belle i” pinback button badge set to my wish list.  This set of eight buttons that costs $13.00 has everything I love, bunting, cupcakes, polka dots, and all in pastel colors! If only I had a need for buttons I’d have already bought them!

CoCo Levine, Cupcake Queen

Posted by on Sunday, September 18th, 2011

CoCo Levine, Cupcake Queen: Fabulous Adventures in Cooking, Crafting, and Friendship is a story about a little girl that lives inside a cupcake.  This children’s book includes more than just a story, it also activities like crafts and baking recipes.  Growing up my mom always incorporated us kids into the cooking and baking.  Even if it was small jobs like pouring or mixing we were asked to assist.  I like that this book encourages involving kids in the activities of the kitchen at an early age.  I also like that it starts creating the love of cupcakes early on!  The book is available on Amazon for $11.99.

All I Really Want Poster

Posted by on Friday, September 16th, 2011

It went from being 90 degrees one day to 60 the next here in South Carolina.  I can’t help but want to throw on a scarf and enjoy a cup of tea and eat a cupcake.  This poster that says “All I really want to do all day is just eat cake” is so true for how I feel today.  The poster is by Jessica Ford Design and costs 40.00 euro.  Also I know it says cake but it shows a cupcake and really who doesn’t want to eat cake or cupcakes all day?

Caramel Popcorn Cupcakes

Posted by on Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

I just finished reading the book Modoc, it’s the true story of the greatest elephant that ever lived.  The elephant works in the circus for several years and when talking about the sounds and smells of the circus the smell of popcorn is mentioned.  These caramel popcorn cupcakes sound like perfect circus food, or since state fair season is approaching, I also think they would be a great state fair treat.  I have yet to see cupcakes at my local state fair, the NC State Fair but if they had these I would be sure to try one! The cupcakes were created by 6 Bittersweets and the cupcakes are made with creamed corn and cornmeal then topped with caramel buttercream.

DIY: Birthday Wreath

Posted by on Monday, September 12th, 2011

I love this DIY Birthday Wreath made out of cupcake liners and paper plate flowers!  It’s such a fun idea and the perfect way to show how old the birthday child is turning on his or her special day.  The instructions make this project sound easy and all you need in addition to the liners and plates is cardboard and a hot glue gun.

Wilton Decorating Bag Holder

Posted by on Saturday, September 10th, 2011

Since I saw this Wilton decorating bag holder on Oh Hello Friend, You Are Loved I have been thinking about buying it, especially because its under $12.00.  It would not only be helpful in the kitchen while decorating cupcakes but it’s also great for using at parties.  I love that Danni painted hers (pictured left)with chalkboard paint and wrote the frosting flavors directly on the stand.  At the same even Danni used a cupcake pan to display the sprinkles.  These are great creative ideas for taking the baking supplies out of the kitchen and into the party!

Vanessa Hudgens Candie’s Commercials

Posted by on Friday, September 9th, 2011

I recently watched a Candies commercial staring spokes model Vanessa Hudgens.  In the commercial they describe  Candie’s Girls with “Candie’s-isms.”  One of the descriptions is that a “Candie’s Girls insist that sprinkles are a food group.”   Are sprinkles a food group? I’m working on my master’s in nutrition so my studies say no but as a cupcake lover I say of course sprinkles are a food group! What about you, do you agree with Vanessa?

Sweet Tooth Cupcakes

Posted by on Thursday, September 8th, 2011

Do you have a sweet tooth? I know I do!  I think it’s almost a requirement for cupcake fans to have a pretty big sweet tooth. I love these creative Sweet Tooth Cupcakes by who other than Erica from Sweet Tooth! How fitting! She also made these Mickey Mouse Cupcakes we blogged about in March.  She comes up with some very creative ideas! I think these tooth cupcakes are super cute and really look like teeth except they look good enough to eat! In her post she shares her recipe for marshmallow fondant and the directions for how to make these cupcakes.

Jacob Bromwell sent ATC one of their All-American Flour Sifters to be reviewed. The sifter was a stainless steel, five cup crank sifter that retails for $28.89.  I was impressed when the sifter arrived, it looked well crafted, high quality, and was very large.

Eat A Cupcake Poster

Posted by on Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

I love getting unexpected packages in the mail! Like this belated birthday present that came last week.  It’s a teal cupcake poster from AllPosters.com that says “Eat a cupcake then eat another.”  The poster is surprisingly large measuring 24×36 inches and is surprisingly inexpensive costing only $4.98!  At that price you could easily make someones day by surprising them with a little cupcake mail!

Christmas Tree Shop Halloween Placemat

Posted by on Sunday, September 4th, 2011

In addition to being the unofficial end to summer, Labor Day must also be the day by which retailers aim to have their Halloween merchandise out.  I noticed this weekend that most stores are ready for Halloween, which is still two months away! My sister just sent me a picture of these Halloween cupcake place-mats from Christmas Tree Shop.   Since you can’t buy directly from The Christmas Tree’s website if you are interested in these it looks like you will have to go shopping!

The Children’s Place Cupcake Tee Shirts

Posted by on Friday, September 2nd, 2011

The Children’s Place has a small back to school sale going on right now and they have some awesome cupcake products for kids!  I love the purple winking cupcake long sleeve T-shirt shown above that is only $7.00.  I also think the  “I Love You Almost As Much As Cupcakes” T-shirt that is $6.00 and the $4.99 cupcake candy T-shirt would be fun for little girls to wear when they go back to school.

And you can’t forget all the fun accessories like the cupcake earrings, shown below, or the cupcake charms and friendship necklaces.

Holly Webber Cupcake Postcards

Posted by on Thursday, September 1st, 2011

I really love sending mail! And even though I have a large collection of stationary I always find new cards and postcards that I want to purchase.  I came across these Holly Webber postcards and am tempted to buy the cupcake ones.  The postcards are $2.50 each and there are four different cupcake designs, all perfect for birthdays or everyday use!
