Cupcake Tattoos for Angie

Posted by on Friday, January 7th, 2011

You know that we love to feature cupcake tattoos, and why not, there are so many amazing designs around, and behind each is a skilled and talented artist who create, design and ink those images, a piece of artwork which will last for a lifetime.  So today I thought I would explore where one particular tattoo parlor got its cupcake inspiration from.

Angelia was a baker, she loved to make cupcakes and Angie dreamt of owning her own cupcake bakery one day.  She had a few cupcake tattoos on her done by the guys at Revolution Ink.  Angie specifically requested bright and beautiful tattoos and they were admired by many, even people not interested in tattoos.

Unfortunately when Angie passed away, it left a hole  in the hearts of those who knew her and posed an issue as to how a funeral could be funded.  The guys at Revolution Ink decided to offer cupcake tattoos to raise the funds, and so many people took them up, that they raised over $3,000.  Even now they still get so many requests for these bright and beautiful cupcake tattoos which first started with Angie’s originals.

These photos above are some of the tattoos created in remembrance of Angie, and below is the large colorful tattoo that Angie had done on her back.

Cupcake Calender

Posted by on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Happy New Year everyone! And we all know what a new year means … finding the right calender! I have been lost at work without a new calender, luckily I bought one and am not so lost. I wish I had found this calender before I had gone and purchased one in town.

2011 Cupcake Calendar – Sprinkled with Fun from Monkey Mind Design’s etsy shop

Each month has a cute design and an even cuter saying about cupcakes. My favorite is April (my birthday month) “A cupcake a day, keeps the sweet tooth away!” They also sell a Mini Cupcake Calender as well.

Wear your cupcakes?

‘Cake me’ is a new project for the ultra talented Kiara Black a German photographer who specialises in taking amazing photos of women.  With this series she has decided to take her cake, and instead of eat it, design with it!  Currently there are only two photos in this collection, this stunning image below is the second one, the first is cookie sweet, but you will have to check out either Kiara’s Flickr page or her website to see that one!

I just want to know how you get them to sit so perfectly without getting blue frosting on your hair… ha!

Apple Spice Caramel Cupcakes

Posted by on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Call Me Cupcake has modified a Martha Stewart recipe to create these Apple Spice Caramel Cupcakes.  Not only does the recipe sound delicious but I love the little green fondant apples used to decorate the cupcakes! The blog is written in Swedish so I used Google Translate to convert the text to English for the recipe which can be found below.

New Year, New Giveaway

Happy New Year cupcake fans! Our first giveaway of 2011 is a special one.  I’d like to introduce you to Stella Dot’s Ava Cupchain necklace.  Now I know it doesn’t have too much to do with cupcakes but isn’t it beautiful?  To me the little Czech stones resemble our little cuppies but maybe I just have cupcakes on the brain!  I love that the ribbon tie allows this necklace to be any length you wish.  I wear my cupchain often and get many admirers checking it out.

Now you have the chance to win this necklace from Stella Dot seller, Lisa Daly.   First, visit Lisa’s Stella Dot site and peruse all the amazing  jewelry, girl’s items and totes they have to offer.  Then come back to ATC and click on the comment area below and tell us what was your favorite item.

One winner will be chosen on Monday, January 10th.

Check out a few of my other favorite Stella Dot pieces!

Special thanks to Lisa Daly for sponsoring this wonderful giveaway!

Andri is a photographer and while in New York the other day she came across this graffiti.  Well we have everything else ‘cupcake’ so why not a sassy cupcake cowgirl!

Cowgirl Cupcakes on East 10th Street have gone with a cool street frontage with this design, and on a frosty evening, it is no wonder that the bright colors caught Andi’s eye!

Check out more of Andri’s photography here.

DIY Cupcake Delivery Box

Posted by on Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

I am continually looking for ways to display and deliver cupcakes.  When giving cupcakes as a gift I like something that is covered to protect the cupcakes which is why I like these cupcake delivery boxes created by Simply Modern Mom.  These do-it-yourself boxes are made out of card stock.  Although she suggests using something a bit sturdier to support the cupcakes, now that she has tested out the boxes. To make the boxes you will also need to download the box and divider templates.  The rest of the directions can be found below.

Vintage Wedding Cupcakes

Posted by on Saturday, January 1st, 2011

The vintage wedding is quite popular at the moment, and why wouldn’t it be, with shows like Mad Men displaying how wonderful the female figure can look in those classic 50s style dresses, but if you choose to go this way, you may wonder how you can merge your vintage theme with your love for the modern cupcake.  Well Pretty Witty Cakes shows us just how this can be achieved!

Suzi has created gorgeous china tea cup cupcakes filled with different colored roses!  Apparently it was quite a fiddly job to complete, but it looks sensational!

And HAPPY NEW YEARS!!
