Jungle Animal Cupcakes

Posted by on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

My son is just six months away from his first birthday, so naturally, I have already been doing a little thinking about the big party.  I thought these jungle animal (monkey, lion, zebra and tiger) cupcakes were so much fun, and they look fairly simple to make. You can watch a how-to video here.

Ice Cream Sundae Cupcakes

Posted by on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

Ice Cream Sundae Cupcakes are the best of both worlds.

You get the look of a sundae but the flavor of a cupcakes with a moist chocolate cake, frosting that won’t melt instead of ice cream that forces you to eat quickly and hot fudge! In my opinion you can not go wrong with this dessert! And Love From The Oven used really cute sundae cups by Meri Meri, purchased from Sur La Table.  Don’t forget there are free printable tags included in Love From The Oven’s original post!

Ramadan Cupcakes

Posted by on Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Looking for some new cupcake ideas? Maybe something a little more global?  Kitsch Cupcakes in Dubai is introducing several cupcake flavors specially-made for Ramadan.  Pistachio Praline is a vanilla cupcake with vanilla icing and just a hint of pistachio praline flavor.  Turkish Delight and Sticky Date are two other flavors that will be available during the month of Ramadan. A percentage of the store’s sales will be donated to local charities.  These look really yummy and could probably be easily made with a few additional ingredients.

Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

Sprinkles Sues Pink Sprinkles!

Posted by on Monday, July 18th, 2011

You don’t have to be a lawyer (but I am) to enjoy this news flash:  Sprinkles Cupcakes has filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in CT against Pink Sprinkles Cupcakes.  The claim?  Trademark infringement.  Here is the 10-page “Complaint,” the document that starts it all.

Copyright Me Cupcake Photo!

What is there to gab as part of the exclusive All Things Cupcake blog not found anywhere else?  Well, as to what matters to us, Sprinkles claims in paragraph 8 that it “plans on opening stores throughout the United States and around the world, including Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, London, and Paris.”  Magnifique!

My curiosity spun me around the US Patent & Trademark Office website.  “Sprinkles” produced 192 results, including “Magic Sprinkles,” “Serenity Sprinkles,” “Twisted Sprinkles,” “Garden Sprinkles,” and “Pet -,” “Kitty -,” and “Doggie Sprinkes.”  In fact, in 2002, before there was “Sprinkles” of Beverly Hills, there was “Sprinkles of Palm Beach”  – that is, until Sprinkles bought the assignment for that trademark.  (Don’t tell Sprinkles, but there is currently a “Sprinkles Ice Cream” in Palm Beach…)

Stay tuned as we track the Answer to the Complaint, due in from Pink Sprinkles within just a few days.

Oh, and just to be on the safe side…I’m not publishing photographs of cupcakes from either Sprinkles or Pink Sprinkles – here is one of my own!

Flower Tower Winner!

Posted by on Monday, July 18th, 2011

Our winner is…

Judy / The Island Broad

The 5 Tier Round Cupcake Tower would be my favorite. I imagine what the 4 tier flower tower will look just as splendid.  I cannot even begin to describe ALL the possibilities! I make faux cupcakes and sell them on etsy so this would be a PREFECT way to display them. I could make one double and one triple cupcake display. I could even put garland around the edges for Christmas. Trick it out w/ some cameo silhouettes of some creepy old people. Drape some faux lollipops w/ some twinkling lights for birthday parties. (shivers) So exciting LOL.   Oh and that cake pop stand is to die for!

Please email your mailing address to [email protected].  Big thanks to Smart Baker for sponsoring this great giveaway.

Cupcake Take Out Bag

Posted by on Monday, July 18th, 2011

It’s not just about how the cupcake tastes but it’s also about how it looks which is why I am always looking for unique ways to package cupcakes when giving them to others. Which is why I like these Cupcake Take Out Bags from World Market.  The bag comes as a set of 2 packages, each containing three bags for $7.98 and is available in multiple colors; Florida Keys is the color shown about but there is also orange, blue, and pink to choose from.  Of course you don’t have to fill the bags with cupcakes, you could use them as “goodie bags” and fill them with party favors.

Billiard Ball Cupcakes

These more masculine-looking cupcakes would be a great idea for your son’s birthday party, a bachelor’s party, or even to use in place of a groom’s cake.

Cupcake Liner Background

I know this is old in the blogging world but I still love this quote and the cupcake liner background.  Found via Creature Comforts I think this quote is a great reminder of why you should stay positive! It makes for a great desktop background!

Cherry Chocolate Cupcakes

Posted by on Saturday, July 16th, 2011

This cupcake is said to be “undeniably one of the richest chocolate cakes you can make that isn’t flourless”.  Wow! Sounds like a great baking opportunity for all you chocolate fans out there!  Use this dark chocolate cake recipe for the batter and this recipe for homemade whipped cream.  You can even make your own brandied maraschino cherries, which are used both inside the cake and on top.  Instructions for assembly are in this article.

Cupcake Goldfish

Posted by on Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Check out my kids’ newest favorite snack!

I recently found this new flavor at Target and was happy to try them for all our loyal cupcake lovers out there.  I was a little bit skeptical though, wondering if Pepperidge Farm had mixed their regular cheese Goldfish flavor with cupcake flavor but I was happy to be wrong.   Although they don’t taste quite like a cupcake, they do taste like very sweet graham crackers and we have found them very addicting.  They also have a new chocolate flavor Goldfish which taste like little chocolate graham crackers and a S’mores mix.  It has marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker Goldfish all in one bag.    Yummy!

Got a Favorite Game?

Posted by on Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

I searched for some of my favorite games (both childhood and present-day) to see if anybody had come up with any cupcake ideas for them.  Turns out that there are lots of great cupcakes out there that were inspired by some classic games.  This could be a fun idea for a child’s birthday party, or for the next time you have friends over for game night! Be sure to search your favorite games…the possibilities are endless!

Watermelon Cupcakes

Posted by on Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

One of my all-time favorite summer foods is watermelon.  It’s sweet, it’s juicy, and it’s good for you, so you don’t have to feel guilty about eating it.  I came across these watermelon cupcakes the other day.  Even if watermelon-flavored frosting doesn’t sound that appealing to you, you can still use food coloring and chocolate chips to turn a plain vanilla cupcake into a summery-looking treat.  Read the rest of this entry »

Cupcake gebakken in een schelp!

Posted by on Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

More in my week-long series, using foreign blogs for summer cupcake ideas.  Yesterday, we were speaking Spanish for super cute, beach umbrella cupcakes.  Today, we’re working in Dutch to figure out baking cupcakes in sea shells!

Sea Shell Cupcakes

Even if you’re land-locked in South Dakota, you can find sea shells for this recipe at cooking shops.  Primarily used for dishes like Coquilles Saint-Jacques, leave it to Carola Damen in Boskoop, Netherlands to think to use sea shells in lieu of cupcake wrappers!

And, take note that Carola starts the cupcake by placing an edible “pearl” under the cupcake batter and ends with chocolate sea shell decorations on top.  Carola makes use of edible body paint to achieve her silvers and golds.

If anyone speaks Dutch and would care to help us understand even more about the recipe, please let us know.

How about the cinnamon roll cupcakes?  Well until I came across this recipe I had not thought of turning breakfast cereal into cupcakes.  Multiply Delicious took a classic cereal and turned it into Cap’n Crunch Cookie cupcakes topped with vanilla ice cream.  Below is the recipe for the captain crunch cookie cupcakes but be sure to check out Multiply Delicious for other cupcake recipes! Nueva receta Cupcakes in Spanish!

Posted by on Monday, July 11th, 2011

From these fleetingly hot days of summer in Upstate New York, I thought I’d take you on a getaway this week to go baking cupcakes in kitchens in foreign countries.  I’ve scouted out the bloggs for the best-looking cupcakes with photo instructions and recipes.

Summer Cupcakes

We start our tour with the cutest summer cupcakes on the planet!  How creative are these?  La Despensa Del Gnomo blog uses the universal image of the drink umbrella with fondants to create beach scenes, from towels to starfish to shovels.  The cupcakes are bottomed-off with palm tree wrappers.

Can any of our Spanish-speaking readers act as our translator tour guide?  One of the ingredients is that yum word “Nutella.”  But just how it fits into the cupcake is the question.

Do take a moment to click on her “cupcakes” category in the blog.  One of her recipes is for Papaya cupcakes – another great summer cupcake idea.  How fun to wander through foreign kitchens to bring their local flavors to our own!

I love the cozy look of this chandelier.  It would definitely give a sense of warmth to your home or bakery!

Pop the Cupcake Top!

Posted by on Friday, July 8th, 2011

It’s summer.  It’s hot.  The kids want a soda.  You want them to drink water, organic fruit juice, and local milk.

Orangina cupcakes

How about a compromise?

Coca Cola Cupcakes.  What if you win on the beverage and the kids win on taste?  Here’s a recipe for Coca Cola cupcakes that spreads 1C of soda through a dozen or more cupcakes.

Root Beer Float Cupcakes. Here is a super recipe for root beer float cupcakes with step-by-step photo instructions, including scooping off a section for a little scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Orangina Cupcakes. On this one, I have to confess, I’m an Orangina nut.  I’m going to be drinking any excess product while these Orangina cupcakes are baking.

And while you’re at it?  Use range free chicken eggs from the local farmer’s market.  They’ll thank you for it when they start baking for their kids!

Orange Creamsicle Cupcakes

Posted by on Friday, July 8th, 2011

These orange dreamcreamsicle cupcakes look like a great summer treat!  The recipe comes from Nigella Lawson’s book, How to Be a Domestic Goddess.
