Best ever Hummingbird Cupcakes!

By on Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

There are a large number of blogs that I follow religiously because they offer such fantastic information, and one of those is Annie’s Eats.  It is not all about cupcakes, but then I need to eat other forms of food too (well.. sometimes!) and everything she features is brilliant!

But what I want to share today, is a cupcake that she recently featured and that I have tried and it really is… really good!  Plus it looks amazing!  This is the Hummingbird Cupcake!  No birds however are harmed in the creation of this baby!  It has loads of yummy things though like bananas, walnuts and coconut!  If Grandma is coming around, this is the cupcake to bake!  Best of all the full recipe is available here.

But you may want more than just a tasty cupcake recipe?  Well Annie’s Eats also goes one step further and tells you how to make those absolutely fabulous dried pineapple flowers to decorate them with here.  I have to make cupcakes next week for the school autumn fete (we are either six months behind or in front seasonally) so these are going to be a hit with the conservative patrons!  Of course I’ll whip out some whacky colored cupcakes with adorable kid inspired fondant toppers to get the younger crowd buying as well!

Happy Baking!

Make your own Christmas bauble cupcakes

By on Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Have you always wanted to make ‘WOW’ cupcakes but are not sure where to start?  Well Cupcake Envy now have the answer in their latest DVD which takes you through the entire process on how to make your own bauble cupcakes.  Actually it teaches you how to make sphere shaped cakelet  designs, which really means you will be able to make baubles, hand grenades, tennis balls, basket balls, planets and anything else that is round!

I just love these, though they are so good I would love to hang them on my Christmas tree… it seems a bit wrong to just, well… eat them!

Crochet your own Cupcake Beanie!

By on Sunday, December 12th, 2010

You may recall earlier in the week we showed you examples of a fantastic set up for a Cupcake Birthday Party, but since then we have received a number of requests asking how that adorable little cupcake beanie was made!

Well now we can share the answer, which is Teresa’s ‘The Art of Crochet‘ website.

There is a load of information on this site about all things crochet, but the instructions for this beanie (in adult size) are all available on one page along with video instructions teaching you how to make each and every crochet stitch!

Unfortunately there is no pattern for a child, but you can just make the cupcake wrapper smaller to fit a smaller head and not put as many rounds on your cupcake topping!

All the instructions and video can be found here ‘How to crochet a Cupcake Hat’.  Also they would make a great cupcake gift for Xmas!
