LGM Cupcakes!

LGM cupcakes

I remain an enthusiastic fan of Disney’s Toy Story series and its LGMs (the “Little Green Men”).  Here is the classic out-take of LGMs with “the claw.”

Needless to say, this recipe for LGM cupcakes is a keeper in my book.

In fact, this Disney family website has an entire section of recipes with several terrific cupcake recipes such as Lightning McQueen from “Cars,” Jack Skellington from “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Owl from “Winnie-the-Pooh,” panda bears from “Mulan,” and more.

Disney Cupcake Pins

By on Friday, March 11th, 2011

Well, you all know that cupcakes are one of my greatest loves in life but coming in second has to be Disney.  My family and I proudly consider ourselves “Disney Freaks” and make at least one yearly trip to Disney World.  Pin collecting and trading is very popular with many Disney fans. There are clubs and websites dedicated just to this hobby.  I may not be a diehard collector, but after Facebook fan Lori posted these pins on our Facebook page, I had to go collect this set.

Each cupcake is fashioned to resemble a Disney character; Marie, TInkerbell, Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.  Their official release date was yesterday March 10th but so far the only place I have been able to find them is on Ebay for around $25-$30.   Thanks for spotting this great cupcake find Lori!

The Cupcake Store Sets Up Shop at Downtown Disney

2009-2010 Holiday Location of The Cupcake Store at Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney is about to have a new permanent attraction: cupcakes!  The Cupcake Store, based out of Mission Viejo, CA, had such a successful temporary holiday booth at Downtown Disney that they’ve decided to open up shop there permanently. Word is that they’ll ship in cupcakes daily from the bakery in Mission Viejo to the happy hordes looking to take a break from Splash Mountain and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

The Cupcake Store is run by cupcake veteran Janel Mitchell. This is her first solo store after parting ways with business partner John Frank, with whom she founded Frostings Cupcakes.  The new Downtown Disney location is set to open up in September. With any luck, they’ll be up and running by the time I go down to SoCal for a visit in a few weeks. If that’s the case, I’ll tell you all about it!

Cupcakes at Disney World

By on Thursday, January 21st, 2010

My family and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. We saw Mickey and Minnie and all the Princesses and yet I still found myself looking for cupcakes. Even better, my family members were looking too! Here’s what we found!

At Downtown Disney I found this lovely sight in Goofy’s Candy Kitchen:

I chose the chocolate cupcake with the vanilla frosting.  I loved the Mickey sprinkles but the cupcake frosting was overly sugary and the cake a bit dry.   These cupcakes were also spotted at Epcot in a Germany treat shop.

Also at Downtown Disney in the Disney Christmas Store, this little Tinkerbell ornament caught my niece’s eye:

I also spotted Minnie’s Cupcake Mix at several stores in Downtown Disney and Magic Kingdom.

My husband found some delicious cupcakes at the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom.  My daughter picked out this pretty one with blue frosting and it was surprising delicious.  Just the right blend of buttery cake and sugary frosting.

Let us know if you have more Disney cupcake spottings to pass on!
