Fourth of July batter

Red, white, and blue profusion!  If the cupcake isn’t the ultimate Fourth of July treat for everyone in the family.

It took me a little while this evening to find a new twist to bring to the blog.  How about red, white, and blue batter from Baking Bites?  The complete recipe is included and looks Y-U-4thofJuly-MMY!  Did you know that you could layer cupcake batters to put this splash into the presentation?

And, just in case you’re buying, you’ll find Fourth of July specialty cupcakes going on at Sprinkles Cupcakes or try them at Magnolia’s Bakery or, well, just about every bakery in America!

Stars and Stripes

I thought this idea looked fun and tasty for the 4th of July.  The cupcakes themselves are made with a yellow cake recipe, and the frosting uses cream cheese with just a bit of lime.  Cut out stars and stripes from waxed paper, lay the templates on the cupcakes, add red and blue sprinkles, remove templates with tweezers, and you have a nicely decorated and patriotic cupcake!

Colorful Cupcakes in a Jar

Posted by on June 9th, 2011

What a perfect way to start off your summer BBQ’s with these colorful cupcakes in a jar. They remind me of the tie dyed cupcakes, but in a jar. I think they are fabulous! They are super easy to make, and a great project to do with the kids. These would also be great done in red, white and blue for July 4th!

Alphabet cupcakes – E is for eggnog

Posted by on April 22nd, 2011

Eggnog is awesome, but these cupcakes from Chockylit look even better, and why is that?  Well I am glad you asked, the reason is the Bourbon Caramel Cream Cheese Frosting!!!  I haven’t made this version before, but I have made a very similar cupcake, which if you like eggnog is divine.  Most of all though I want to try the frosting, which I think would probably work well on lots of different types of cupcakes.

So whether you try these cupcakes now, for Christmas in July, or wait till the official date in December, it is a recipe worth filing away!

Happy Australia Day!!

Posted by on January 25th, 2011

Today is our 4th of July, well, actually tomorrow is!  26th January every year Australians celebrate what it is to be Australian.  We approach this, in much the same way as everything else, with great gusto! There will be burnt sausages, prawns, seafood, lots of food, fireworks and of course cupcakes!

I created these cupcakes for the kids at the BBQ we are attending today.  I created the fondant flags first by cutting it and twisting around a toothpick then piped the details onto them.  Unfortunately there is only six points on the bottom star which means I have lost an Australian State or Territory (as there is one point for each), and my red frosting bled into my white, but I am pretty happy with them!  And most importantly the kids will LOVE them as they are my favorite chocolate recipe with a chocolate ganache.
