How lovely is this sweet bakery mobile from Gifts Define?  I love the strawberry cupcake and the birthday cake with a candle.  While it is a little pricey at $135.00, I think it would make a lovely gift for a new born baby!

Cupcake Print Tie

By on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

I know that the next holiday is Mother’s Day so I should be thinking of my mom before I start thinking about Father’s Day but I spotted this cupcake print tie from Ferramago on the Selfridges & Co website and now I’m wondering what I’ll give my dad this year.   I know my dad would never wear a cupcake tie, which is a good thing because he wouldn’t want this tie that costs £115.00!  It’s still a fun idea and I’m sure somewhere out there there’s a dad that would wear a cupcake print tie.

New Inspirational Cupcake Gift

By on Friday, April 27th, 2012
There is an amazingly cute new gift on the cupcake market–Cravings from writer Carey Bailey. When Carey became a mom, she noticed that life got a little (or a lot) crazy. So, to help other moms find a few moments of peace and tranquility, she created Cravings, a collection of 40 card-size devotionals based on the Psalms. Each card contains an inspirational Bible verse, a “thoughtlet,” and an action idea. These cards are held in a gorgeous pink cupcake card holder that will be with its owners long after children are grown up (assuming of course that it is kept away from the children!).

I asked Carey, “Why cupcakes?” And she answered, “I knew I needed just the right image to capture the interest of moms. I began brainstorming with a good friend who also happens to be a graphic designer. I knew I wanted a shabby chic look but I could not pinpoint the exact image until I came across several hand stamped cupcake images on Etsy. It all clicked at that moment. My friend got to work and after just a few test cupcakes the Cravings cupcake was born. I love it!”
So of course, I had to know what cupcake Carey claims as a favorite. “It is much too hard to narrow my favorite cupcake down to one choice. My first pick would be a lemon cake with a lemon frosting with extra, extra lemon zest. I want it to make me pucker! My second pick would be a milk chocolate cupcake with a peanut butter frosting. Think of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in cupcake form.  I made both of these for the Cravings Cupcake Tasting Soiree I hosted for the launch of the product and they were a hit.”

If you know a mom who loves cupcakes, especially one who might be feeling a little overwhelmed with all that moms do, this would make a great gift!

The Flying Cupcake of Indianapolis

By on Thursday, April 26th, 2012

This past weekend, I made my first visit to the great city of Indianapolis! And I learned that there’s more to Indianapolis than football and race cars. The folks in Indianapolis know their cupcakes, as is evinced by The Flying Cupcake Bakery, which has four locations in and around the city. The Flying Cupcake’s slogan is “We eat all we can and then sell the rest.” Isn’t that great?

The Flying Cupcake is charming and spunky, just like the city where it was born. Not only do they sell an impressive variety of cupcakes, but they also offer cute t-shirts and even cupcake-inspired baby attire! We choose to sample the Black Bottom, a dark chocolate and cheesecake cupcake that seemed to weigh at least five pounds; the Pucker Up, a lemon chiffon cake filled with lemon cream and topped with lemon butter cream icing; and the Bart Simpson, a chocolate cupcake topped with rich peanut butter cream cheese frosting and then rolled in Butterfinger chunks. These. cupcakes. were. perfect.

Their red velvet cupcake, which they call the “Red Velvet Elvis,” claiming it is “fit for a king,” is loaded with chocolate chunks and topped with cream cheese frosting and white chocolate shavings. My daughter tried the Boston Cream Pie, a vanilla cupcake filled with Bavarian cream and topped with chocolate ganache. I admit, I stole a bite of it, and was happy that I did.

At The Flying Cupcake, the flavors change daily, so I can’t wait to go back for another round. I recommend you do too. You’ll find their daily flavors on Facebook. You can also follow them on Twitter.

Cupcake Gummies

By on Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Lately I have seen gummy candy in various shapes, I even bought a friend butterfly gummies but I have yet to see cupcake gummies in a store near me.  I managed to find blue cupcake gummies online on Crystals Rose Cottage Chic.  For $6.00 you can order a dozen cupcake gummies to use as party favors or cupcake toppers.  I think any kid would love to sink their teeth into a cupcake gummy!

I have been cautioned by friends in regards to purchasing food from websites with caution so you might want to check with the website owner on their food safety practices before finalizing your purchase.
