In fact, it seems to be spreading. Lucky for me, I found Rosanna Pansino’s Nerdy Nummies tutorials on YouTube and a new, tasty outlet has been opened for my nerdiness.

Posting new how-to’s every Tuesday, when Nerdy Nummies makes cupcakes, it isn’t just a decorating lesson. Pansino frequently brings viewers from the raw ingredients (or cake mix from time to time) through the final decorative touches. With an upbeat, quirky presentation and fun, flexible attitude, it’s difficult not to smile as she jokes with a number of guest bakers. Just this week she had Drew Roy (of TNT’s Falling Skies) help her bake and decorate Sharknado Cupcakes (featuring a Blue Moon beer cupcake recipe) responding to the many Shark Week requests she had received from viewers. Similarly, the Despicable Me Minion cupcakes she made last week used a banana cupcake recipe that complements the Twinkies used for decorating.

Pansino provides plenty of reference links with each video to make undertaking one of her Nerdy Nummies that much easier, giving credit whenever and wherever possible. Encouraging interaction with her fans, Pansino invites ideas and suggestions. The easy to follow instructions are perfect for beginning bakers of all fandoms. These treats are perfect for gaming or viewing parties with your fellow nerds.
