peanut butter fluffWhen the long days of summer end and it is time to board the yellow bus back to school, having a special treat can make the ride a little less bittersweet for both parents and children. Over at The Cup (an off-shoot of the famous Cakery in St. Louis), they aim to take the bitter entirely out of the end of summer vacation. Working with KidSmart’s Push for Pencils program, The Cup has two new cupcakes that will help send local kids to school better prepared for the days’ tasks. The limited edition school-lunch inspired peanut butter fluff and pb&j cupcakes will only be available through August 19th.

Beyond curing the back-to-school blues at the five locations they have in three states, The Cup makes a point of supporting each of their local communities with some of the proceeds from their famous buttercream topped cupcakes. On the second Monday of each month, The Cup’s five locations host their Baking a Difference days where 10% of sales goes to several featured charities (which means next Monday August 12th just became the perfect day to buy a cupcake).

Even with the time and cupcakes they have donated to charity, The Cup has managed to produce a list of cupcakes that is extensive, mouth watering and, in many instances, limited edition. Of course, this turns each flavor into an event and The Cup excels at scheduling. On their website you will find that in addition to gorgeous displays of each flavor and scrumptious descriptions, you can even join mailings lists for individual flavors to learn when they will become available again.
