Kate from See Kate Sew used a template to create her own cupcake wrappers from old magazine pages. The wrappers are easy to make and you simply place the cupcake inside the wrapper after baking. I found this pdf template for cupcake wrappers if you are interested in making your own wrappers.

That is definitely good for the environment. Could be fun for a kids party using comic books or something like that. For my nieces wedding I used this companies cupcake wrappers http://www.bellacupcakecouture.com. They were so beautiful!
