Cupcakes Help Sick Kids
By CandidCupcake on June 4th, 2011 . Filed under: Celebrities, Cupcakes for a cause, Kids, Photos .It seems that we are always hearing about ways we can give of our time and resources to help others, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise to cupcake enthusiasts that cupcakes can also play a role.
This past Tuesday, singer Sheryl Crow used cupcakes to bring some cheer to sick kids at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. The popular singer visited the hospital as a part of the Music Gives to St. Jude Kids initiative, which aims to fight childhood cancer and disease through raising funds and awareness. Crow participated by making cupcakes with children at the hospital.
Sheryl Crow is not the only person battling childhood cancer through cupcakes. Ron and Ruth Bzdewka, owners of House of Cupcakes in New Jersey, were the winners in the third season of the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” and they donated their $10,000 grand prize to St. Jude’s.
Four-year-old Kayle Willie of Krotz Springs, Louisiana is also raising awareness and money for the same cause. She might be your average child in many ways, but several months ago she decided to bake cupcakes to sell in her community and she gave the proceeds to St. Jude’s.
Cupcakes are certainly a fun and tasty way to make a difference! Most kids love cupcakes, and it seems like cupcakes love kids, too, as they help to raise money and awareness to fight childhood disease.
