Cookbook Giveaway

By on June 28th, 2010 . Filed under: Books, Cupcake Help!, Cupcake Ideas, Giveaways .

I recently went looking for a baking cookbook for a friend and found a great site called Snubbr,  a recommendation site.  You ask them for recommendations, and they’ll find an expert to give you advice on what to buy.   Check them out here.

I decided on one of our fan favorites (and mine too!),  Hello Cupcake!

hellocupcake

I love this book and am amazed by the clever use of ordinary food.  The step by step photos allow those visual learners (like me) to succeed in making wonderful looking cuppies.   My personal favorites are the spaghetti and meatballs and the pumpkins!  So many cupcakes for so many different ocassions.

This week we are giving away a free cookbook of your choice (could be baking, cupcake, whatever), thanks to the kind folks over at Snubbr.com.  First,  click here  to see what books you can choose from and then leave a comment in the comment area below telling us the title of the book (must be under $30), and a reason why you want to read it.  We’ll choose our favorite comment on July 4th, and announce it here.

No idea what cookbook to get? Why not head over to Snubbr.com?

I’ve had The Bread Baker’s Apprentice on my Amazon wishlist for a while now. I’ve been moderately brave about trying bread recipes on my own but would love more guidance and ideas.

  7. Jessica

I would love to try Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World! I am not a Vegan nor do I have a food intolerance, but I would love to try some dairy/egg free cupcakes if it means I won’t have to go out and buy eggs every time I want to bake something. Plus the book looks like its full of attitude and beautiful pictures – my kind of cookbook!

  8. Lori Roberts

I would love to win :Hello Cupcake” I had it but gave it to my daughter who lives in NY and I am here in Las Vegas! Oh that would be so wonderful!!! Thanks for the chance to win! AND I LOVE YOUR SITE!!!!!!

  9. Courtney

First of all, thanks so much for the chance to win a cookbook!! I would love to get the America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book! I’m a college student and was just recently accepted into pharmacy school. I’ll be spending the majority of my time studying, but I have always like to bake during study breaks. When I’m stressed about school, baking just helps me to unwind. I would LOVE to take some study breaks with this cookbook. And I’m sure my fellow classmates in my study group would also appreciate any sweet treats I cook up. :)

  10. Kristina

I would LOVE “Hello, Cupcake!” ! I am a mom of two, and make all homemade cakes/cupcakes because of my son’s peanut allergy. I have branched out with my cakes (pirate theme and Mario theme), but I need some serious help getting creative with cupcakes!!

  11. Ashley

Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity! I just love this site – not only has it inspired me to get a cupcake tattoo (as soon as I choose which shop, I’ve narrowed it to 5) – but I literally check it at least 17 times a day. I keep my Google Reader open on my Touch so I can jeep hitting Refresh, haha.

Anyways (sorry, I tend to go on tangents), I’d love the Gluten Free Baking Classics because I very recently found out I’m gluten intolerant so I think a cookbook would be a great place to start. Thanks so much, again! =)

  12. Amber

  18. Ashley

I would love to have a copy of “Hello, Cupcake!”!

I took up baking cupcakes last semester to help fundraise for my sorority–one night I spent 5 hours baking and frosting.

Only recently did I discover the art of cupcaking and my newfound love for cupcakes. After summer began, I bought a copy of “What’s New, Cupcake?”, the first time in years that I’d bought a book, not including textbooks. I am also a relatively new user of Google Reader (just over a month), but of my 38 subscriptions, 23 are food related… and of those, 9 are completely dedicated to cupcakes. Crazy, I know. @_@

Although I haven’t had a chance to test out the cupcakes from “What’s New, Cupcake?” at fundraisers, I would love to share more of the awesomeness (haha :P) of cupcaking with my friends and family. Honestly, cupcakes make me very, very happy, and having a copy of “Hello, Cupcake!” would make my day… O(≧∇≦)O

Anyways, thanks for this opportunity! :D Haha and sorry if this comment was much too long… x____x

  19. Jennifer

Cooky Book seems like the kind of book I would love to have. As much as I really want Hello, Cupcake! (after all I did find this contest on a site about cupcakes) Cooky Book reminds me of cookies my great grandma used to make when I was little and it would be nice to get to make something that looked and especially tasted like them again! I love the nostalgia of it, so cute.

  20. Mary-Frances C.

I would have to go with the Hello, Cupcake book as well. I host at least 1 or 2 parties a month at my house. I always serve cupcakes..mess free, and pre-portioned. Plus, who doesn’t LOVE cupcakes?

  21. Molly

I would love to get Hello Cupcakes :) I have just gotten into baking and cupcakes are my favorite. I would love to try out more creative decor on them and flex my culinary skills!

I would just love to get the “Hello Cupcake Irresistibly Playful Creations Anyone Can Make.” Why! you ask! Because I have always been a cupcake lover but just recently within the past year or so have started to really to really indulge into the wonderful world of baking and creating my own cupcake creations at home. It would be wonderful to have some reading material to help keep my cupcake idea’s going!

  24. jessica

I would choose the “artisan bread in 5 minutes a day…” because I love the idea of baking homemade breads for meals and not having store-bought (with who-knows-what in it)… also like to say that I personally own the Hello, Cupcake AND the Betty Crocker Cooky Book and love love love love love love love love love love love love love them both!!!!!!! So if I don’t win, I hope whoever does chooses one of those!! :)

  25. Maureen

I would love The America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book. The reason is because while it concentrates on just baking it is a wide scope of different aspects of baking. Pies, cakes, tarts. I need help in all areas.

  26. Brenda

Would so love the America’s Test Kitchen Cookbook!! I love to watch their show and see all of the neat tricks they have to offer. Hope I see it in the mail soon! :)

  27. Terri/Love & Confections

I would love the “Bread Baker’s Apprentice” because I am a Baking & Pastry student and would love to learn more about bread making. We only had two courses dealing with bread, throughout school, and I constantly try to improve. This book would help me in my education, and in the long run, help me with my own bakery one day.

  28. Marie

The America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book

I love to watch the show whenever I can catch it.

  29. Jessica

I would love Hello Cupcake! Cupcakes are so fun to make as a surprise for someone. Simple ones are always tasty, but I’d love a chance to make some outrageously awesome cupcakes

  30. Vicki

I’d choose the ‘Hello, Cupcake!’ book you featured. I picked that as I’m a real baking enthusiast, but the one thing I have no yet mastered are the various techniques to creating unbelievable and unique cupcakes. I’m 19 and hopefully about to start a small part time business to help me through university. That business will be selling cupcakes for events the different societies at my university hold. There’s nothing I’d like more than for this to become full time, but still being realistic, I just think this book would really help. Thank you for the opportunity! X

  31. Ashley

Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World! That would be my choice. I always strive to expand my repertoire of cupcake recipes, and when you can make them vegan, that’s even better!

  32. Jennifer

  33. AmandaJ

I would have to get Hello Cupcake! I have been decorating c akes since I could stand up, freestyle with no lessons other than my watching my mom. Now that I’m in my 30’s I am deciding my cupcakes need to be more fancy than slap it on and throw on some sprinkles. This would be an awesome book!

  34. Sara

  37. Barbara

Oh my dear, that’s a lovely giveaway! I seem to be Alice in wonderland, even able to choose the book you can win … There are so many beautiful and very interesting books, but what I’d really love to browse is “The Bread Baker’s Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread”. I started making bread at home, but the results were not very promising. With a guide like this I’m sure that my bread would be much more fragrant and tasty! Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity!

  38. Joan

The Bread Baker’s Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread. I started baking bread around the first of this year. I baked many of the recipes in Artisan Bread Everyday and got to attend a class with Peter R. in March. Since then I’ve been wanting this book. It would be great to win one and start cooking from it. Thanks for the giveaway.

  39. Peta

I would love a copy of the book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking. It has been on my wish list for ages and I can’t wait to try making bread at home.

  40. Kim

I have to pick teh Hello, Cupcake! Irresistibly Playful Creations anyone can make. HA! Lets just see about that. I want to see if anyone can make them. I just started baking. Made homemade cin. rolls, a cake and brownies from a box. I want to see if I can make cupcakes look edible. Plus I have a secret obsession with cupcakes, thus following your site.

  41. Rad Runner

Hello Cupcake! Duh… Says the girl with cupcakes in her eyes…
I have seen this book b4 and love it! If I won it, I think I’d have to have pretend birthdays for the people I love so that I could make the cupcakes!

  42. Kathie

How cool! I would love The Joy of Vegan Baking. I have been trying and trying to go vegan for some time now. I do great for a week or two and then fall off the wagon the moment I begin craving cupcakes or cookies.

  43. Brenda

Hello Cupcake is my vote too! Just found love the second time around. New beau calls me “Cupcake.” Ain’t (cupcake) love grand?

  45. Serena

Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter to win a book from such a great list of books. It is really hard to choose which one when they are all so very good!

I really like the Hello Cupcake book. I have been teaching myself how to decorate cakes the last few years, I would really like to know how to do something like what is shown on the cover. I think the little animal cupcakes are so cute! I have 3 kids and each year, they want something a bit more complicated for their b’day cakes, so I have to work hard to figure out the best way to get what they want. I would really love to have a book with detailed instructions on how to decorate the cupcakes so extravagantly!

And to top it off, if I could learn how to do cute little animal cupcakes, that would be the thing I send to school for their fund raisers. I bet they would help our school bake sales a bunch! Every year we are asked to send something to school so they can sale them for various school functions. And I’m betting those would go over very well!

  46. Christina

Would love to win the Vegan Cupcake…take over the world book! This looks like a fun cookbook too! Also I have a friend whose son has an egg allergy so would love to try out eggless recipes for them!

  47. Renee G

I would love to have the Great Scandinavian Baking Book. I would like to try making some of the treats that I remember from my childhood visits to Grandma Ida’s house.

  48. Lisa

The America’s Test Kitchen Baking book.

  49. Ruby

My book of choice would be Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. I’m not a vegan myself, but I’m a vegetarian (me and my mother, actually, and we try to eat as little animal products as possible) and cruelty free cooking is very important to me. I’ve never tried my hand at fully vegan cooking, though, but it seems like a challenge that I would really love to give a shot.

I’m really experimenting with cupcakes these days, I’ve made a pledge (and a blog) to make one cupcake a week (but I’m failing miserable, shht, don’t tell) and I want to try out as many different things as possible. This would be a great book to do that!
