Swirlz Cupcakes
Swirlz Cupcakes is located in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago (705 West Belden, Chicago, IL 60614; swirlzcupcakes.com). Its stylish store and artfully-decorated treats are two reasons we love Swirlz.
Martha’s Pick from Swirlz:
Martha picked the chocolate passion cupcake. The rich chocolate cake, bittersweet ganache, homemade passion-fruit curd, and passion-fruit buttercream are topped with delicious candied sunflower seeds. Swirlz also offers a gluten-free variation of this chocolate passion cupcake. Special thanks to Jeremy Sher for use of these photographs.
Happy Cakes Bakeshop
Happy Cakes Bakeshop is located in Denver’s Highlands Square neighborhood (3815 W. 32nd Ave., Denver, CO 80211; happycakesdenver.com). Run by Laura Reynolds, Lisa Herman, and Sara Bencomo, Happy Cakes is the city’s original gourmet cupcake bakery.
Martha’s Pick from Happy Cakes:
Martha’s favorite treat from Happy Cakes is the cosmo, a Vodka-soaked cranberry cupcake with lime-infused buttercream.
Violet’s Cakes
Violet’s Cakes features everyday cupcakes with a classic 1950s style (21 East Holly Street, Pasadena, CA 91103; violetscakes.com).

We sell those little yellow seeds in our shop. They are absolutely delicious! Candy coated chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Wonderful for flowers, no wonder Martha likes those ;o)

I just adore Violet’s and feel so lucky to be from Pasadena. They were a great choice to provide the cupcakes for our wedding (in five different flavors) as well as a small topper layer cake. Their work was not only gorgeous but also fantastically delicious! Their french toast cupcake is my absolute favorite.
