As last crash victim laid to rest, town overwhelms with cupcakes
The Associated Press
PUBLISHED: February 28, 2008
When the town of Cottonwood was faced with one of the worst tragedies imaginable, people responded by making cupcakes. A lot of cupcakes.
What a heart felt story of remembering the ones we’ve lost and celebrating life with cupcakes.

Ugly Muffins Tee
$19.00
This fitted black tee has a front screen featuring 3 adorable cupcakes and a sad muffin. Why so sad? Probably because “muffins are just ugly cupcakes.” Poor muffin. 100% cotton. Wash warm. Dry low. Imported. By Loungefly.

There were so many fabulous cupcakes in the blogosphere this week that it was hard to narrow it down to seven. It might have been a fluke primarily due to this month’s Cupcake Hero contest but I wasn’t complaining!
If you find a cupcake blog/website entry or you think *your* cupcake is worthy for my Cupcake Collection, please feel free to email me!

Cupcakes Go Retro in Lincoln Park
by Steve Dolinsky, ABC7chicago.com
PUBLISHED: February 28, 2008
Who doesn’t get excited about cake and frosting? At the cozy Molly’s Cupcakes in Lincoln Park, the owners are definitely going for a more retro feel.
“Molly was my teacher, and she used to bake us cupcakes, so it’s named after her, and in honor of Molly, we donate part of our proceeds to help schools in the community,” said John Nicolaides, Molly’s Cupcakes.
I love the story behind the story. So sweet naming their cupcakery after a former teacher.

Recipe contests put local cook in the spotlight

The orange chiffon recipe made the cut, and after submitting a 5-minute video of herself making the cupcakes, Madey was off to Los Angeles to tape an episode of “Ultimate Recipe Showdown,” hosted by Marc Summers and Guy Fieri. She was one of nine contestants competing in that episode, which was devoted to cakes of all sorts.

The brilliant Cakespy drew me up a couple Super Cupcake images as a possible future tattoo. I asked her to pop them onto tee-shirts for me, and now they are for sale in her cafepress shop. They are oh so cute. I love them!

Please go check out The Cakespy Cafepress Shop and buy 1 or 10.

Minnie Driver is one of celebdom’s least divariffic citizens; she’s affable, funny, charming, blah, blah, blah. But she isn’t above a little muscle-flexing … to get the cupcakes she wants.
TMZ caught up with Minnie outside of NYC’s Magnolia Bakery — the famous one — and she was visibly irritated about having to wait in a (not very long) line.

Parents, child care teachers need to be on the same page
by By T. BERRY BRAZELTON, M.D., and JOSHUA SPARROW, M.D., New York Times
PUBLISHED: February 25, 2008
My grandson was attending a day care where a mother brought nine cupcakes for the class where her daughter was having a birthday.
There were 12 children in the class.
Even though we only read the grandmother’s side in the article and I want to give the school the benefit of the doubt, why would the mother of the birthday girl only bring 9 cupcakes for 12 kids? Thats just math waiting to go wrong… JMO. What do you think?
